Stronger Together: TRE 2024 Partner Panel

Wednesday, September 18, 2024 | 3:00pm-3:45pm Eastern Time | Free Webinar
You’re invited to join us for The Running Event’s (TRE) annual partner webinar, Stronger Together: TRE 2024 Partner Panel! This year, TRE is partnering with 15+ unique organizations that each offer impactful resources, support, and value to the running and outdoor community. During this conversation, you’ll hear from four of these partners – &Mother, Native Women Run, Healthy Kids Running, and Leave No Trace – about their work, mission, and how they’ll be showing up to TRE 2024.
The webinar will be hosted by TRE Event Director Christina Henderson, who will provide additional background behind the importance of TRE’s partnerships and how these organizations are impacting the event and the industry. This webinar is open and free to anyone who wishes to attend; if you cannot join us September 18, register anyways and the on-demand version will be sent to you via email.

Vic Chiampas
Programming and Communications Manager, &Mother

Vic oversees the programs that are at the heart of &Mother’s mission: supporting moms through grants, event standards (ex. lactation stations at marathons), policy change, professional contract language, maternal wellness research and resources, and storytelling (via social media). Most recently, her work made lactation support at the USATF Olympic Trials and a nearby hospitality house possible for the many mother athletes competing in Eugune that week. She also worked closely with the five Olympic and Paralympic athletes that &Mother issued “Bring the Babies” Changemaker Grants to, which made it possible for them to bring their families with them to Paris to use the first-ever IOC-sanctioned nursery. Their stories live on our social channels thanks to Vic’s storytelling skills which has helped &Mother shift the public narrative towards one that celebrates the identity of women that thrive in career in motherhood.

Vic spent the first decade of her professional career in education, teaching Kindergarten in the California Public School System. Upon starting a family, Vic decided to sunset this portion of her career to focus on a more entrepreneurial path that had the flexibility that teaching didn’t afford a new mother. It was initially in her role as Head Coach at Orangetheory Fitness where she saw an unfilled need to build community through social media for members to connect with and support one another. Vic continues to enjoy coaching group exercise classes and spending quality time with her husband and two sons in Bend, OR.

Verna NezBegay Volker
Founder/Executive Director, Native Women Run

My name is Verna NezBegay Volker and I am from the Navajo Nation. My clans are Tódích’íi’nii (Bitterwater) nishlíi, Hashtl’ishnii (Mud People) bashishchiin, Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle) dashicheii, and Tó’ áheedlíinii (Water Flows Together) dashinalí.

I grew up in the Blanco Canyon area of New Mexico, but currently live in Minneapolis, Minnesota with my husband and four children.

In 2009, I started my running journey to lose weight, but it has turned into a quest to find out who I am internally. This journey has taken me from a newbie runner to a marathoner and to an ultra-marathoner.  My desire is to use my running to inspire others.

I am also the founder of Native Women Run. An organization I created six years ago to draw visibility to Native Women Runners,  Not only are we  drawing visibility but It has become a place for our women for inspiration, motivation and community in a virtual and in-person setting.  We also create Native Women Running teams around race events. Recently, NWR became a non-profit status.  My hope is to expand this work by creating more running groups and race opportunities for our NWR community.
